Awesome, awesome, awesome!! Armageddon Unleashed (Universe in Flames Book 7) by Christian Kallias is a great book. I was sad it ended, but am looking forward to the next book in the series to find out what happens next on this spectacular journey.This book was action packed from page 1. Each chapter was full of exciting interactions, scenes, and descriptions that had you feeling a part of this epic storyline. Interesting enough, one of my favorite characters was one of the villains, Oryn. While battling wills with her father and brother, and battling against the protagonist, Chase, she was battling with her own identity. I enjoyed reading her character development and how her interactions played out and were revealed.
The plotline was imaginative and described with just enough detail that had you riding along in the ships and during the fights between characters. The characters included in this book were well developed with interesting dialogue (at times funny and lighthearted), and had you caring about what was going to happen to them. There were scenes where your mouth dropped open and a scene that even brought tears to my eyes. The author’s writing style pulls you along this intense journey with each character and has you wanting more. It’s amazing how the author uses his descriptions and dialogue to get you to care about an AI in the story. To me this really shows the wonderful writing that takes place in this book.
If you haven’t read the previous books, I suggest you do, but the author includes a section in the beginning of the book entitled “the story so far” which describes the prior books with cliffhangers and twists.

I’ve read it this far so I’ll probably finish it out. I would have given it a five star but something in the books just bugged the hell out of me. You had these people from the distant future but you had them using 20th century slang and expletives, but insisted on saying “It mattered not” which I found to sound pretentious and eexstraneous

Very impressed! I just joined Mr Kallias's ARC team, so I jumped in at #7. The book starts with action and the action continues to the last page. I had very little trouble sorting characters. They. Are well defined and realistic. His explanation of the science is easy to follow, and sounds plausible. Over all an excellent read!
And each book is 5stars++! Just purchased #8
Outstanding story line taking modern characters that still believe some of the mythology we were all taught or learned , and using the aggression of a earth AI that has gone rogue and wants to destroy the planet .The mythology is found t I be real . Just incredibly well done
And filled with twists and turns. Books 1 - 7 ,again were absolutely magnificent! I will let you all know of my thoughts on #8 GREAT READS HATS OFF TO KALLIAS
Of the series that Christian has written this one kept me reading until I finished it! I couldn't stop! It was everything I expected and more but..left me waiting for more! Can't wait! These series are very exciting and very well written! Technology outstanding without being overly technical. Battles galore, even romance 💕! Start with the first book "Earth Last Sanctuary (Universe in Flames)" It's worth your time!
Kallias has knocked another home run out of the park with Book 7 - Armageddon Unleashed. This book series is like a very fine wine that just keeps getting better the further you get into the bottle!
The taste of battle amongst the starships and the individual combat between characters is incredibly graphic and exhausting. Not since reading the works of Wilbur Smith have I ever tasted the fullness of the graphic descriptions.
Another 6-star candidate that we can only award 5 Stars to under this system.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire series. This is one that is hard to put down. The action is nonstop. Christian Kallias is able to bring his characters to life, even the characters that are machine bring the reader into their life. I am enjoying this series so much that I most certainly will read his other works. I like to read to relax. My favorites have excellent character development, multiple plots happening at the same time, few if any slow spots, and something that requires thinking. This does all these and more. Nice job Christian!! -)
I am fortunate enough to be on the author's ARC team and received an early release in exchange for an honest review. This isn't my usual genre, and I was optimistically skeptical for the first three or four pages. By page 10, I was completely involved in the story even though this is the first book I've read in the series. I did purchase the final version because I want my husband to read the series. I know he'll enjoy it.
If you're looking for a critique of battle tactics, you'll have to choose a different review. That's just not my thing. But I can say that these characters are strong, well-developed, and realistic. The protagonist isn't faultless, which is quite refreshing. The story is compelling, and it doesn't take long to become fully invested in the outcome.I highly recommend reading the series in order, as there are character interactions and events that will make more sense in context.
And the last page....well, you'll have to read it for yourself. I anxiously await book 8.
