HER RISK TO TAKE is a twenty-thousand word novella (approximately 80 print pages).

If only ER doc Sarah Sullivan could get the ornery cowboy she’s loved since she was a girl to cooperate, she could move on with her life, and maybe even think about starting a family. But he’s pulling away, and she doesn’t know why. What she does know is that she can’t imagine life without him.

Ex-con Cal Landon lives in fear of the day his ugly past catches up with him and takes away the best thing he’s ever known—Sarah Sullivan. Cal would die to protect her, but she deserves better than a world-weary ranch hand. Even though it’s way past time for him to leave her family’s Montana spread, he can’t bring himself to let go.

When Sarah proposes at Christmastime, Cal has no choice but to walk away. Then a hostage crisis hurls Sarah into a life-and-death situation, and the love that made Cal leave sends him racing back to her side, straight into danger. He will get her out alive—or die trying.

Her Risk To Take Novella Her Romantic Suspense Book 3 edition by Toni Anderson Romance eBooks

This novella is excellent. Although I enjoy reading Ms. Anderson's books I skipped this one because, truly, it's pricey for a novella that's such a quick read. I finally bought it when I couldn't find anything more appealing on my amazon search. That's when I take another look at my "go to" authors. So while its price is a bit higher than it should be imho, it was a very good read that left me feeling all warm and fuzzy and smiling.

The good: both leads are well-developed given the page count. Sarah is an accomplished ER doc, devoted sister and aunt, she has a life plan and she's head over heels in love with Cal. Cal, with a backstory that has shaped the man he is today, is equally dedicated to family--even though that family is Sarah's and not his. He's a skilled ranch hand, treats people with courtesy and respect and he's a tattooed stud. Cal ignores his feelings for Sarah because of that very backstory. He doesn't feel worthy, although clearly he is. At a very specific point early in the novella Sarah decides that she has had enough of that avoidance and takes matters into her own hands, literally. She forces a late-night discussion in a unique and daring manner, and let's just say that that scene ends well. There are a handful of secondary characters from other books and while they don't play a major part, they are described well and add value to the story. You get just enough of their background to understand who they are and how they all interact. The novella is well-edited and I didn't catch any errors so if they were there, they weren't distracting.

The bad: actually, I can't think of anything. The drama just before the ending might be a little hokey, but not bad enough that I'd pull a star.

My advice: skip the expensive cup of coffee tomorrow so that you can justify buying this novella today. Read it and enjoy it!

Her Risk To Take Novella Her Romantic Suspense Book 3 edition by Toni Anderson Romance eBooks Reviews

Short story and book 3 of series. Some action and violence in this installment. Sarah has loved Cal since she was young, and she is tired of waiting for him to make a move. She literally decides to take "the bull by the horns" and sets herself to seduce him. Short story, but worth the read.
I'm so happy that Cal got his happy ending.
And again this story has a smart, strong, kick ass heroine. Sarah has always been the good one, she tries so hard to keep it together for her twin Ryan and her other brother Nat (Her Sanctuary). But finally she decides to go after what she wants. AND what she wants is Cal.

This series is so great and I sooooo hope Ryan gets his HEA next.
I have read many of Toni Anderson's books, I have enjoyed them all. Very suspenseful and always an beautiful love story. This series doesn't disappoint. I hope we get to read about Ryan's story!
Loved this series
Neat and Eliza starts it.
Marsh and Josie second book, Cal & Sarah third book. It’s a great series. I love how Toni has a grip on drama, terror and finding love.
Hoping for a second Chance for Ryan.
Her Series Book Three

Sarah Sullivan has loved Cal Landon forever. She is sick of his insistence that they cannot be together, so she takes things into her own hands. Cal cannot believe that Sarah wants to be with him. At first, he goes along with it, but when they are seen in town together he knows he must protect her from the people who hate him. As an ex-con who killed his own father, the town has revenge on the mind and will not tolerate him being happy. Sarah doesn't care what people think, but can she convince Cal to stop caring?

Audio Review
This is another standout performance from Eric G. Dove.

If you've been waiting to see Sarah and Cal's story, you won't want to miss this!
This is the third book in the "Her" series. It is a novella but it perfectly explains the relationship between Sarah and Cal. Sarah has been in love with Cal since junior high. Even though he went to prison for killing his step-daddy who pounded on his mama. Obviously no good lawyer was available for a 14 year old to end up doing 10 years. Cal works their ranch and feels he is in no way good enough for Sarah. It doesn't help that his step daddy's friends and family want him seriously messed up.
Sarah's brothers know these two are in love and thus is no secret. Sarah a doc at the ER is in a bit of a hostage situation and Cal and brother Nat come to the rescue. Finally Cal tells the Sherrif to stop bugging him. It is a great addition to this series. Short and sweet. Now where is Ryan's story??
Normally I love this author's books. This one not so much. Billed as a novella, it probably fulfills the word count. But the novella itself ends at 72%. The balance is ads. The first ad is for this group of her books, which really should be required reading before this novella as most of the character development of the hero and heroine in this novella occurred in the first book. BUT I am also not a fan of the very short story itself.

This book is another "woman as a victim/punching bag" story which does not appeal to me. A man hitting a woman is a bad thing, but a woman sticking around for it is contributing to her problems by not taking responsibility for her own actions. So I generally avoid books dealing with that subject in a sympathetic manner. Fortunately there are many women and readers with more sympathy than I have.

This is an okay book which ends a series. The first two books are very good, and I recommend them highly. Read this one at your own risk.
